Our Programs

Cool Fuel

Cool Fuel is a nutritional program which teaches our members about healthy eating and how to prepare appropriate meals. Cool Fuel is a great place for members of all ages to come and learn about food sustainability, kitchen etiquette, and how to prepare a delicious and nutritious meal.

Girls Empowerment Programming

Girls Empowerment Program is a place for our female members to spend time together building self esteem and leadership skills. We will have theme nights as well as interest-based outings. We are currently offering a Big Brothers Big Sisters program called Go Girls! Go Girls! Is a group mentoring program for girls ages 12-14 that focuses on physical activity, balanced eating and self-esteem. The single, most important goal of the program is to positively shape the lives of young women and girls by helping them build a positive self-image, setting them on a path to reach their full potential in life. We have staff and volunteers on site who are trained facilitators of this program.

Keystone

A Keystone Club is a small group leadership and empowerment program for youth aged 14-18. Its philosophy is very much dependent on solid teamwork and group support. Keystone Clubs empower youth with the knowledge and the skills to make positive choices in their lives in addition to giving them a place to use their creative skills to make a difference.

Life

"Life" is a program which educates youth on such topics as financial literacy as it pertains to budgeting and managing money, saving, purchasing, and banking. It also pertains to teaching self-management skills such as job readiness and application, work ethic, how to raise a family, run a household and communicate effectively in any relationship, just to name a few. This program helps to prepare youth for the future goals they wish to achieve.

Recreation and Leisure

Our Recreation & Leisure activities introduce sports and recreation in a variety of forms to help children and youth get moving every day. Although traditional sports like soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball and others are always part of our activities, the magic of our program is the non-traditional approach to recreation & leisure being used to help the child build important self-esteem and leadership qualities, while at the same time developing important skills through this process which will help the child make better decisions through the experience of play.

Boys Empowerment Programming

Boys Empowerment Program is a safe place for our male members, ages 10-18, to come hang out and spend time speaking up on the issues and stereotypes boys face everyday. Boys Group participants will also have the opportunity to go on a few interest-based field trips. We are currently offering a Big Brothers Big Sisters program called Game On! Game On! Is a group mentoring program for providing boys and young men with information and support to make informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices. Through non-traditional physical activities, complemented with healthy eating support, participants are engaged in life skills, communication, and emotional health discussions designed to engage participants in the pursuit of life-long healthy lifestyles. We have staff and volunteers on site who are trained facilitators of this program.

Music Programs

We have a wonderful sound proof room dedicated to music development. Experienced musicians and artists volunteer their time to provide the right foundation to help young people express their creative identity through structured activities that expose them to a variety of creative avenues. We are currently offering drum and guitar lessons.

"My Story" is a program put on by professional photographers Maurice Henri and Karen Casey. This photo project provides digital cameras and training in basic photo techniques to youth in our community. The training is about 'seeing' as a photographer. Participants will learn basics of photography, discuss each other's pictures, and use their cameras to document their individual lives and personal surroundings. This project allows the youth to tell their story through the lens of a camera.

Doggone Pawsitive

Doggone Pawsitive is a multi-stream program offered to young people where they can take advantage of learning a variety of different skills while working with trained dogs. Through our Doggone Pawsitive Program, we offer Doggone Reading, which is a program designed to help children and youth become more comfortable with reading while working toward increasing their reading level. We also offer Doggone Hiking, which is a dog walking program which allows the youth to get outside and get physical activity in a fun and engaging setting. We will also be offering programming where the youth will simply spend time with a dog and volunteer either one on one or in a group setting doing different activities. They will be able to touch and pet the dogs while learning about unconditional love.
