The Boys and Girls Club of Moncton's drop in program offers a wide variety of programs and services to children and youth within the Greater Moncton community.

Our drop in program is designed to channel all the necessary resources needed to effectively answer to a child’s needs not only on the short term but also on a long term bases.  The system works by utilizing a network of people and resources designed to provide a multi level program of services to children and youth.  The service deliveries encompass items such as physical safety, health and nutrition, family life, leadership, recreation and leisure, education and a host of other initiatives all developed to better a child quality of life.

Our 8 Program Core Areas:

Youth Engagement & Future Planning

This pilot program is presently in the development stages and we hope to begin the program in August 2012.  The “Transforming Tomorrow’s Leaders Program” is designed to assist young people who are at high risk of dropping out of school and whose financial considerations make the realization of higher education difficult.

Health & Nutrition

The “Cool Fuel” program provides children with access to a variety of meal programs from snacks during the day to full meals at night.  This program is not just a meal program, but a program with a mission to teach children and youth how to feed themselves.  This culinary program is designed to provide children and youth with the necessary skills and tools to maintain their nutritional health through their lives.

Education & Training

The Boys and Girls Club of Moncton's “PowerPak” is an important multi-faceted program designed to help children break down the barriers of learning.  This is achieved by not only teaching, but by sharing knowledge.  The Boys and Girls Club of Moncton challenges children and youth to change their outlook on learning and to open their horizons to grow to their full potential with dignity, a sense of self work, and a zest for living and learning.  We believe that learning is a natural process, but it requires the right environment and resources to support dynamic development in children and youth and help those who may not possess the basic confidence due to their social or economic environment.

Science, Nature & Technology

The Boys and Girls Club of Moncton's i-Can program helps children and youth discover the world of science, nature, and technology by providing them with important tools to discover the world around them.  Discovery is the first step towards developing our awareness of the world around us.

Arts, Music & Culture

The Boys and Girls Club of Moncton's “A-Zone” program strives to offer children and youth a variety of high quality creative outlets such as:  music instruction, art lessons, photography courses, videography (movie making), editing, and creative writing.  Many children and youth do not have the financial resources to purchase instruments, equipment, or instruction.

Leadership Development

The Boys & Girls Club of Moncton's “First Things First” leadership program is one of the most important services we offer to help the child or youth build his/her own mission statement and leadership skills.  Good leadership is often a matter of seeing value in people so clearly that they come to see it in themselves.  As teachers or simply friends, we can influence young people by holding positive expectations regarding them and this is the basis of our leadership program.

Recreation & Leisure

The “Get Moving” program introduces sports and recreation in a variety of forms to help children and youth get moving every day.  Traditional sports like soccer, basketball, hockey, racket ball, and others, are part of this program; however, the magic of the program is in the non-traditional approach to recreation & leisure being used to help the child build important self-esteem and leadership qualities, while at the same time developing important skills through this process which will help the child make better decisions through the experience of play.

Community & Outreach

The Boys and Girls Club of Moncton's “Community & Outreach” program provides families with the opportunity to get more involved in the activities and "growing" of their children and youth and to develop a sense of family support within the community.  The Outreach portion of the program is designed specifically to reach children, youth and their families living in areas within our city isolated by a lack of resources, transportation, recreation and leisure facilities, and accessible programming.
