Nashaly’s Path of Creative Discovery

As a shy teenage girl coming from the Dominican Republic, Nashaly had always been reserved, with few friends and little connection to others outside her immediate circle. But from the moment she walked through the doors of BGC Moncton, her perspective began to change.

The warmth and friendliness of the staff immediately put Nashaly at ease. Enrolled in the Entrepreneurship programs offered by BGC Moncton, she found encouragement, guidance and a supportive environment where she felt safe to explore her interests.

Nashaly had always harbored a passion for fashion design, and within the structured sessions of the programs, she found the perfect outlet to let her creativity soar.

With the help of mentors and peers, Nashaly honed her design skills and developed business ideas that merged her artistic talents with her love for fashion. She crafted unique shirts and bags, each bearing her distinctive designs, and even ventured into creating paintings that expressed her artistic vision. To her delight, the community embraced her creations enthusiastically, boosting her confidence in ways she had never imagined.

When asked what message she wanted to share with other teenagers, Nashaly’s smile spoke volumes. “Just give yourself a try,” she said earnestly, “step out of your comfort zone and connect with more people, explore more opportunities.”

Through her experience at BGC Moncton, Nashaly not only found her creative voice, but also discovered a supportive community that believed in her potential. Nashaly’s story shows other youth that with courage and perseverance, they too can find their place in the world and make a difference.
