Opportunities for Better Lives
At only 12 years old, Alisar fled the war in Syria with her parents and 5 younger siblings. Arriving in Moncton, not speaking any English, she was determined to get a good education to have a better life.
Now 17, Alisar has dedicated herself these last 5 years to learning English to keep her marks up. Studying faithfully she worked with her tutor Rebecca from BGC Moncton and has continuously improved her language abilities. She also developed a close bond with Rebecca who became a mentor to her.
“Thanks to my caring teachers I learned to believe in myself and my abilities” Alisar says. “I have now been accepted to Mount Allison University to study sciences. I am very happy and plan to work in the medical field one day.”
